Periodontal disease can destroy your smile and your health.

Don't let fear and anxiety keep you from getting the treatment you need.

With gentle, quiet periodontal laser therapy, our team destroys harmful bacteria and repairs damaged gum tissue!

No cutting, no stitches, and no hospital stay!

Periodontal disease wreaks havoc on both your dental health and your overall wellbeing. For many patients this insidious disease goes untreated—either because they don’t think it’s a big deal or because they are wary of traditional periodontal treatments. It used to be that the only way to treat periodontal disease was through deep cleanings, antibiotics, and oral surgery. These treatment options were sometimes invasive, and often traumatic to oral tissue. Unfortunately, traditional treatments did not eliminate periodontal disease—many patients found that their periodontal infections returned again, and again, in a frustrating cycle.

Now there’s a better way—we have developed a fast, comfortable method to treat periodontal disease and to effectively keep it in remission. Revolutionary laser gum therapy has changed how we are able to treat periodontal disease. Using innovative laser therapy, we kill bacteria and promote gum tissue regeneration, painlessly, and quickly. Periodontal laser therapy is more effective than antibiotics, and it doesn’t have the major risks associated with antibiotic use—namely drug-resistance and immune system suppression. Also, there are no strains of bacteria resistant to lasers.

Most of us have heard about plaque and calculus build-up—over time, the bacteria in plaque and calculus multiply and cause dental cavities and infections in the gum tissue. Ultimately, the same harmful bacteria in plaque and tartar can negatively affect a patient’s overall health and wellbeing. Chronic, low-grade inflammation caused by persistent periodontal disease may put you at risk for a variety of chronic conditions, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Heart disease
  • Memory problems

How can CDM help me?

Your oral health affects your overall wellbeing, so our treatment system is designed to eliminate periodontal disease and promote full-body wellness. The Center for Dental Medicine utilizes two essential methods of treatment to combat periodontal disease and keep it in remission.

  • Laser Treatment: kills the bacteria and repairs affected diseased gum tissue. The laser is used in conjunction with gentle scaling and cleaning.
  • CDM Homecare: your way to defeat bacteria every day! Using innovative oral hygiene products and supplements, you will bolster your immune system and oral health.

Additionally, we use a variety of tests and assessments to monitor your risk for various diseases, and confirm that your treatment is successful.

Why so many patients trust CDM:

Put Your Health First

Periodontal disease causes gum pain, inflammation, swelling, and sensitivity. If left untreated rampant bacteria will create periodontal pockets and destroy healthy bone. These complications can be devastating for a patient—taking a toll on their ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. However, only recently have we understood that the chronic inflammation caused by periodontal disease can actually affect the entire body. Periodontal disease is not just a nuisance, it’s a liability. Effective laser therapy may reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.

Affordable Option

Our unique non-surgical laser treatment for periodontal disease is generally more affordable than other periodontal treatments. For most patients, laser therapy costs less than traditional periodontal surgery or a conventional co-pay. Insurance providers are increasingly receptive to covering the cost of periodontal treatment. Most importantly, investing in effective treatment now means that you won’t have to suffer through costly and painful surgery in the future.

Superior Technology and Testing

Our treatment system is designed to fight periodontal disease and support total body wellness. We take the guesswork out of treating periodontal problems by using innovative technology to make sure you’re effectively treated.  The first phase of your treatment is a testing phase—for example using the hs-CRP test we determine your risk of heart attack and stroke, and the HbA1c test assess your risk for diabetes. Six months into your treatment, we will perform an assessment to ensure that you don’t have continuing periodontal problems.

Tests and Assessments

During treatment, we use scientific testing to gauge your dental health, and consequently monitor your treatment plan. At the Center for Dental Medicine, we utilize the CDM Wellness Assessment—performed at no additional charge during your routine CDM 6 month visit. The CDM Wellness Assessment utilizes equipment and analysis methods that only about 5% of dentists have at this time.

Periodontal Pockets

As gum disease progresses it can weaken teeth and cause bone loss. Periodontal pockets are formed as gums detach from teeth. These pockets are infected with bacteria and enzymes, which destroy collagen. Consequently, periodontal pockets can cause loose teeth, tooth loss, and bone loss.

hs-CRP

CRP is a protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. It has been shown to cause blood clots, and high CRP can increase the risk of a heart attack by a factor of 5. Since periodontal disease increases inflammation, it can raise your CRP score, which is why we test all patients with periodontal symptoms and infection before and after treatment.

HbA1c Test

This test allows us to measure blood sugar levels. Unlike other glucose tests, the HbA1c measures blood sugar rates over a period of months. The inflammatory chemicals produced by periodontal disease affect blood sugar control and can double your risk of developing diabetes. When your blood sugar spikes it puts a little spot on your blood or hemoglobin. By measuring the percentage of your hemoglobin that is glycated, we can assess your average blood sugar rates. Removing periodontal disease can improve your blood sugar control if you are a diabetic or prevent you from becoming diabetic if you are pre-diabetic.
